Nigeria -0.5 +120 over Mali 5 units (unbelievable price @ Sirbet)
Nigeria is interested in winning this match as their coach mentions. "We want to win the match to take something from the tournament," said Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu. "The Nigerian people have started to once again believe in the team."
On the other hand Mali is down and out mentally. Mali coach Henri Stambouli has admitted that it may be hard to focus his squad on Friday's game following the 4-0 demolition by Morocco in the semi-final in Sousse. "My players were in tears on Wednesday," said Stambouli.
Ikpe Ekong and Romanus Orjinta come into the Nigerian side as Ekong will replace Seyi Olofinjana in midfield while Orjinta takes the place of Isaac Okoronkwo in defence - with both Olofinjana and Okoronkwo missing the game through suspension.
Same teams played in the same spot in the 2002 tourney with Nigeria winning 1-0.
Another interesting twist is that the Nigerian coach's contract is expiring this summer. He's looking to stay on and winning the bronze would enhance his chances. This team is built for the WC qualifiers and this would be a morale boost as they did not anticipate advancing this far in the tourney.

Guingamp -0.5 +2.00 over Ajaccio 2 unit This is your traditional six pointer. Guingamp came out of the gates very slow but if you look at their home schedule you will understand why.
2003-08-02 Guingamp - Marseille 0 - 1 2003-08-16 Guingamp - Bordeaux 1 - 3 2003-08-30 Guingamp - Lyon 2 - 0 2003-09-20 Guingamp - PSG 0 - 2 2003-10-04 Guingamp - Monaco 1 - 2 2003-10-25 Guingamp - Toulouse 1 - 0 2003-11-22 Guingamp - Sochaux 1 - 2
Ajaccio on the other hand had started fast with two road wins at Metz and LeMans and slowed down considerably lately. Their weekend win over Toulouse has them feeling better about themselves and they might not be as hungry today.
I feel Guingamp is well positioned in this relegation battle despite where they are right now. It comes down to head to head games and they have been able to perform against their relegation competitors.
They have beanten Lille and Toulouse and drawn away with Rennes and Metz. This game as well as the game against LeMans will go a long way to decide who goes down and that's the reason I believe they will do the job today.
Guingamp will be without Fuentes, L.Bah, Loussouarn, Talhaoui and Le Roux due to injuries. Ajaccio will be without Connen, Regragui, Zarabi and Seck.
Weather: 8 C and rainy.
Guingamp won both matchups last season, 3-1 at home and 2-0 on the road.
Probable lineups:
Ajaccio: Trevisan - Gr?goire, Destruhaut, Danjou, Collin - Terrier, Moracchini, Lacombe, Bonnal - Diom?de, Bagayoko Bench: Granon, Robin, Mitrovic, Ursule, Sekli
Guingamp: Le Crom-Guillaume,Sikimic,Kouassi,Laspalles,Al.Yahia,C.Michel (cap),Cabanas,J.Leroy,Andr?,Gouss? Bench: Rigaud,Bourhani,Tchomogo,Bardon,Dagano

Rennes vs Lyon
History: Last 10 head to head: Lyon leads series 5 wins 1 loss 4 draws @ Rennes: Lyon has won 3 and drawn 2 in the last 5
Lyon is coming off a dissapoints CL loss at Anderlecht on Tuesday and are sitting second in the League 3 points behind leaders Monaco. Lyon are 5-0-2 on the road this season with impressive wins at Marseille, Nantes and Ajaccio. A little worrying that Lyon is down to their 3rd string goalie with both Coupet and Vercoutre on the shelf but Puydebois had a baptism by fire against Anderlecht.
Rennes has been struggling lately and have not won a game in the league since September 27th. Rennes is unbeaten at home with a 3-4-0 record at Stade de la Route.
Rennes Injuries: Le Lan, Grenet, Vignal Not selected: Lucas, Delaye, Mvuemba, Briand, Sorlin
Lyon Injuries : Coupet, Vercoutre Suspended : Essien Not selected : Delmotte, Gomez, Bergougnoux
I expect the champs to continue their recent successful away run in the league and make it 5 straight wins away from Stade Gerland. Lyon comes in with the best defense and the best scoring offense in the league and that should be all the difference today.
Play: Lyon -0.25 -129 over Rennes 3 units (Pinnacle) |
